This tractor is used with a snow blower and was working fine but now shuts itself off when brake taken off or PTO engaged.
A It sounds like there is something blocking the blower, try cleaning it and make sure it's free by turning it by hand. It could also be a seized bearing.

I have a chance to buy a Cub Cadet riding mower that Id like to turn into a pulling tractor. Im not sure of the year but I know its an older model and it does have shaft drive. ( no belts) However it is hydrostat, is that a problem when it comes to making a pulling tractor?
