Leave the old belt on the deck until you buy a new one so you can see the threading pattern of the belt. Next, lubricate your mower deck. Check your owner's manual to determine which linkages need oil. Then, turn the deck over and check for blade wear or damage. A dull blade needs to be sharpened. While this can be done at home, most homeowners prefer to have a professional sharpen the blade. To remove a blade, use a wood block to prevent the blade from moving. Then use a wrench to loosen the center bolt. Before installing new blades, you should remove any debris from the deck. To install a new blade, place it on the spindle, bottom side up. A John Deere should be able to tell you. You need your exact model number and some decks have their own model numbers on them since different decks can be used on the same tractor. There are several factors to a belt. Length, width and pitch. Most belts are marked on the backside with a number. Often it is STDXXXXXX. "STD" being "Standard", a generic number. Some of the suppliers will have their number on them. It the number is still there. Sometimes they are only printed on them but sometimes they stamped in. Measuring doesn't alway work because old belts can stretch some or if it broke some might be missing. And to keep the blade pulleys from slipping it is important the size is correct.

I have a LT133 lawn tractor and it shredded the deck drive belt. The belt was fresh, but the tractor is 12 years old. The pulley over the blade on 1 side makes a nasty rattle and does not turn smoothly. How do I get that bearing out? If I go over to motion industry, what is the bearing ID?
