- My John Deere Sabre Tractor Model 1646H Hydro-Drive transmission problems?
My John Deere Sabre Tractor Model 1646H Hydro will not drive forward or reverse very well, extremely slow regardless of how far I push the transmission drive arm forward or back.The engine is running great. But the tractor wheels barely move. Thanks, Chet I can't find a fill or drain plug to be able to change or check the transmission/hydraulic fluid. Does anyone know how to change/check fluid on the hydraulic drives for theses model of tractors? If they are a sealed unit and it can't be done?
A could be that its low on fluid. but i should mention that a lot of hydo static drives won't work until they have warmed up. if its like 50 degrees F or lower you need to run the engine at full speed(if its a gas engine, less for a diesel) for a few minutes often before it will drive good. if it works great after running few minutes don't worry about it.

I have a 15.5 HP 38" cut John Deere Sabre lawn tractor. Heavy, thick, white smoke is coming out from under the front of the engine. It has oil & fuel. No leaks on the ground. Any comments or tips? Thanks.
A Sounds like too much oil. Check the level and drain if TOO FULL.
