- Where can I find a resale value for a John Deere STX 38 lawn tractor purchased in 1993?
We have a John Deere STX 38. It was purchased in 1993. It includes a Deere bagger unit, and pull-behind cart. It's been meticulously maintained over the years. It's only obvious imperfection is a torn seat. It's been sitting unused for 3 years now in an enclosed shed and I'm looking for where to find a resale value.
A Resale on your STX 38 w/ bagger and cart is about $300.00. The trade in value is even less. The STX series lawn tractors where the cheap of the cheap when they came out. Honest to god the hood costs more than the whole unit. If you don't want to take my word for it go to your nearest Deere dealer and ask a salesman.

- John Deere STX 38 not dies when going up hill?
Hi, I have a John Deere STX 38 with a 12.5HP Kohler Command and when I go up a steep hill the engine dies. I cleaned the carb, the filter is clean, and I drained the tank and refilled it, I also cleaned the cap and the tank vent and changed the fuel line, but still the same problem. It has no fuel pump, but the gasoline is higher then the crab even on a steep hill. So what could it be?
A If your carburetor has a float, then the float may be sticking, you probably need to get a rebuild kit for it. If this is not the case then you may have a problem with the governor, it is supposed to increase the gas to the carburetor in this situation when more power in needed, try giving it a good cleaning and make sure there is no binding or loose or broken springs.
