- I have a 6 x 4 John Deere Trail Gator with a short in the electrical system. Any Help?
Voltage light on when running. I have disconnected all the power accessories, and the light remains on when running. The battery does not seem to hold a charge, it is new since the problem surfaced. I have the Kawasaki 2 cylinder gas engine. All electrical terminations seem to be secure. Any ideas?
A This isn't my field of expertise but I think the light is telling you the charging system isn't working. Start the Gator and then remove the positive battery cable. If it stops dead, the charging system (alternator/regulator) is not working properly. If it continues to run then you may have a short in the wiring to the light, but unlikely. Other than that I would suggest posting this question in the automotive section. Good luck!

- I have new 15 X 6 front lawn mower tire for John Deere LX172. Can't get the new on or find any help. Any help?
Earlier this year, I broke a belt and suspected this tire was going out. I gave them (Dixie Farm Supply Store on Old Glendale Road in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, aka John Deere Store) tire number and make and model of the tractor and they said I could keep that information, as they did not sell tires because "if they did people would want them to start putting them on and we're just not fooling with that..." Putting the tires on for the customer (imagine that). The clerk I spoke with was named Marty and I have the phone number. There are few who can put this tire on. Two of use tried together yesterday for 45 minutes. And, of course, the grass continues to grow. John Deere profits are probably up, cause they are going to let you tackle this one ALONE, if you have to replace a tire on a lawn mower.
A If you have the wheel and the tire won't mount and inflate, I would just recommend putting the wheel and tire in the back of your car and heading to the nearest tire shop - they will mount them for little or nothing as long as they are not too busy at the moment. If you need to get to wheel on the tractor or the wheel and tire are integral, rather than separate, I would call John Deere - 1-800-522-7448 and ask them or get the contact info on your local John Deere dealer because they do still support older models.
