YES, I'm an idiot, I know it, you don't have to flame me! YES this is really bad for your lawn mower! NO you should never do this!!! But note that we hit 55mph (coulda done 70 if we had more room) without getting arrested (watch for the cop in the background) and I didn't break a single bone or get any road rash!!!

- When is the best time to buy a John Deere riding mower?
It's not an emergency but I need to by a new riding mower. I've decided on a John Deere LA115 with muching plate and maybe a tow behind sprayer. Anyway, does anyone know what time of year is best or if it even makes a difference when you buy one?

- What kind of oil and how much oil do I put in a john deere riding mower?
I have a john deere 48 inch cut riding mower and I am wondering how much oil that I need to put in it and what kind of oil do I use? How do I change the oil filter also?
A It should have recommended type of oil in the owners manual... I know UI don't keep mine around either. You could try looking at the John Deere website or calling a reputable lawn mower repair place. If all else fails go for straight 30 it will say SAE 30 on the bottle. As far as how much.. it should have a dipstick or if the filler hole is low on the crankcase it will be to the top of the filler hole. Oil filter... It may not have an oil filter on it. Usually less than 20 HP doesn't. If it does you'll see a cylinder a little larger than can on the side of the engine. Mine, a craftsman is on the left side toward the back of the engine. Turn it left-loose, and after a few turns it will drop off.
