The air filter should be changed once a season dirt is not a good thing to get into your engine . You can clean it out with a air hose and , buy the tune up kit or just the air filter an prescreen . Check all other parts mention, spark plugs,fuel filter , battery charge or old gas as well . Please favorite my videos or subscribe , much appreciated . Have a nice day ! cheers

- Is this the right kit for my lawn mower for a tune up and will the sparkplug be gapped correctly?
I bought this kit, but I have the TORO PERSONAL PACE 22 INCH LAWN MOWER. Will this oil be correct? I usually just take it to the shop. Do I dump the entire thing of oil in if it comes with a kit? A If you bought the kit specifically for the mower you own it is the correct kit, if it not specific, it may not be the right parts you need. if you cannot find the owner's manual then check for a dipstick to check the oil level, if no dipstick fill to top of crankcase fill hole. or to full designation if there is one. be sure you are putting oil in the crankcase, not the gas tank. As far as the gap on your spark plug, it will likely be properly set, but it should be checked with a feeler guage to be sure. Again if the owner's manual is available this information should be there. if not available your best bet is to try searching online for specs for your particular mower, I would start with TORO.com, or do a search for toro mowers, and look for owner's manuals or repair manuals
- Briggs & Stratton 6HP Craftman 22" Mower - Starts, runs then stalls?
Hey All, I've been fighting with my mower for a while, last year I did the whole tune up kit from sears, sharpened the blade, etc... Towards the end of the season it would try to stall while mowing, and sputter back up. Later it would stall and not start again, I had a spare mower, so I just stuck this one in the garage. I finally went back to look at it. My first thought was the timing (Sheer pin) as I did stall it on a piece of PVC mid last year. Removed the tank and pull string assy and the pin is pefectly aligned. Don't have the tools handy to pull the fly wheel. Should I still pull it and make sure the pin is not bent? I also pulled the head, cleaned all the despoits on the valves, head, etc.... Put it all back together, started it up and it was doing great... Mowed about 50 ft of grass and it stalled. Ideas? If I pump the primer it will rev back up. It really seem like the fuel flow stops at some point. Also, how is the arm to the governer adjusted? The carb is spotless... I cleaned it inside an out, tried runnig with and without the aircleaner (Its also new). My backup is a 5.5 HP Briggs... The motor is almost identical, its just an older motor with alot more use on it. I'm going to start swapping parts and see if I can get this figured out today. Regarding the governer, I disconnected it sometime last year because it was covered in dirt/mud and I thought that might be the cause of some of my problems. It may have not been, but I think it may be adjusted wrong now.

A Hi There, I had this problem with my mower. I did'nt take it apart as you did yours, but just did a tune up,plug, new oil/gas/airfilter. When I took the air filter off, I started it up and it would run then stall so I got it started again then wiggled the choke area parts and kept it running this way, then I noticed that around the choke area, (the spring and throttle adjustment parts), it was gunky,dirty, sticky,ect and sprayed it with wd 40 and now it runs properly.
