- Why do my self propelled lawn mower wheels jam after self propelling?
After I self propel my wheels jam up. When I push the mower around a lot the wheels will spin again. As soon as I self propel then release it the wheels will jam up again. I CLEANED it out and looks clean. Anybody know whats wrong with it? It it a Craftsman 917 376360.
A It seems that you have to adjust or replace the drive belt since you stated that you cleaned the wheels. It may have been worn due to a jam in the wheel. There is a link to a PDF document that addresses the all the maintenance for your mower. There's not too much to the drive system of this mower but a spring holding tension on the drive belt when you "self propel". TO REMOVE/REPLACE DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 14) • Remove drive cover. Remove belt by pushing down On gear case pulley. ° Turn lawn mower on its side with carburetor and fuel cap up. . Remove blade. . Remove debris shield. o Remove belt from engine pulley on crankshaft. Install new belt by reversing above steps. ° Always use factory approved belt to assure fit and long life.

- How can I increase the speed/power/pull/torque of the wheels on my self propelled lawn mower?
Front wheel drive self propelled mower. The wheels turn if you pull them up off the ground but do not have enough power to pull the mower along when they are in contact with the ground. Looking for a way to increase the power of the drive wheels. Thanks.
A Sounds like the belt is worn out and slipping. I am sure that it was originally made to pull the mower along.
