- I have a Wheel horse tractor that has water in the engine block. Is it repairable?
The tractor has a 11 hp koehler engine. Rainwater entered through a retrofitted muffler and caused rust on the piston head. Can oil or any other lubricant free up the piston?
A If the damage is not too severe it can be salvaged! If the piston is frozen or stuck, soak it with generous amounts of "PB Blaster". Change the milky oil. It may take several applications of blaster to free the piston, just keep moving it a little more both directions. After the piston moves freely it may be best to take it out to inspect the rings to see if they are stuck in their grooves. Replace them if they are broken. The cylinder wall may need a light buffing with a green scotchbrite pad. Also check the valves for good movement too! I know this sounds like a lot, but it's not too bad a job.
